What is saDOGlist.com?



        saDOGlist is San Antonio's first and only community website devoted to dogs. The dog world is so large, so we've made it easier to connect with your local dog scene. If you live in San Antonio and it relates to dogs, you can find it here on saDOGlist.com.



Our mission is to create a one-stop dog portal to find dog services, learn about dogs, connect with other dog owners- & to do it all Locally.



        We promote responsible dog ownership and a positive lifestyle with your dog. We recognize the importance in owner education, and believe it is important to set a good example, as well.  This means that we encourage each San Antonio dog owner to follow the laws of pet waste cleanup, leash laws, and licensing. Obedience training is also important to achieve a friendly, well-behaved puppy or dog. Proper healthcare for your dog is also of interest to prevent sickness from spreading to other dogs or the public. saDOGlist's services try to help each dog owner to meet these needs for our dogs, other people and our city. Let's set an example San Antonio!

Why was saDOGlist.com Created?



        When we first moved to San Antonio, we had no idea how to even begin finding a new team of professionals to meet the needs for our dogs. We needed a new veterinarian, a reliable, humane groomer, a trainer who could train us too, and a caring boarding kennel for when we went out of town. I guess we could have looked in the yellow pages and chose the first paid-for ad that jumped out at us, but that really said nothing about the client's experiences there or the business' reputation. We wanted our pets treated like we do at home.



        We could have asked the neighbors, but how did we know if they were on the same page as us? Maybe they didn't mind a groomer that was rough with their dogs? Maybe their favorite trainer was just as narrow-minded as the last trainer that we stopped going to? How were we supposed to know? To make a good decision we needed a large variety of people to present all of the businesses in a "reviewed and rated" fashion, so we could narrow down the list to that one that was the best fit for us & nearby our home. There was nothing like this on the internet for San Antonio. That's what became the dream of saDOGlist.com.



        We wanted to provide San Antonio the benefit of information at people's fingertips for a family member that shouldn't be forgotten, our dogs. saDOGlist has grown to be an all-in-on online dog community serving our neighbors and travelers to The River City.

San Antonio Dog Trends- A Dog-Friendly City



        San Antonio is amongst the top ten largest cities in the United States. Our population is 1.2 million & growing! Based on a Gallup poll on pet ownership, 45% of American households have atleast one dog. Texas and California have higher averages of 50% of the households having atleast one dog. So, a conservative estimate of dog ownership in San Antonio would conclude that there are 500,000 dogs or more in San Antonio!

        San Antonio is located in Texas Hill Country, one of the most beautiful areas you'll ever see. The weather is great and never too extreme to take the dog for a walk. Our close access to vast, hilly land to hike and clean rivers and lakes to swim, make for the perfect place to enjoy the outdoors with your dog.



        Our city was voted one of Top Ten Dog-Friendly Cities in North America in 2005. AKC Spokesperson Lisa Peterson said, “San Antonio, the nation’s 7th largest city in population, has nine of the country’s most popular breeds on its top 10 list. All of these breeds are social and adaptable, making them great dogs for city residents.”



        There are many dog-friendly places like the Riverwalk, restaurants, hotels, and parks. Let’s try to make it on the list again in 2008 by setting an example of responsible dog ownership and well-behaved dogs, so more businesses will be encouraged to allow dogs.
